Improved energy efficiency with smart consumption control

With mod­ern en­ergy man­age­ment, in­tel­li­gent build­ing tech­no­logy from Gira not only helps to save power; it pro­tects the en­vir­on­ment too. The seam­less in­ter­ac­tion of the func­tions means en­ergy con­sump­tion is re­duced to a min­imum and co­ordin­ated ex­actly to the in­di­vidual re­quire­ments of the house­hold. Clear dia­grams let you con­veni­ently check all the con­sump­tion val­ues at any time and quickly make ad­just­ments as needed. In this way, oc­cu­pants per­man­ently lower their en­ergy costs – while at the same time en­han­cing their liv­ing com­fort.

Centralised energy management

The more ef­fi­cient use of en­ergy plays a key role in times of rising en­ergy costs. As an in­ter­face between the build­ing tech­no­logy and the com­puter net­work, the Gira HomeServer en­ables cent­ral con­trol and mon­it­or­ing of en­ergy con­sump­tion within the house­hold. Thanks to the smart in­ter­ac­tion of vari­ous func­tions and devices, as well as time-​dependent and needs-​based con­trol, it helps to en­sure that en­ergy is only used pre­cisely when and where it is needed. Not only does this save you money, it also pro­tects the en­vir­on­ment.

Comprehensive heating control

Win­dow open, heat­ing off: The sys­tem de­tects when a door or win­dow is opened by means of door and win­dow con­tacts. After a defined period of time, the heat­ing is auto­mat­ic­ally turned down in the cor­res­pond­ing room. The heat­ing is not turned up until all win­dows and doors are closed. This pre­vents un­ne­ces­sary heat­ing, whilst en­sur­ing that rooms al­ways re­main suf­fi­ciently heated.

Perfect interaction of blinds and heating

The sun’s en­ergy can be in­tel­li­gently in­teg­rated into the tem­per­at­ure con­trol sys­tem by means of the per­fect in­ter­ac­tion of blinds and heat­ing. This means that when the sun is in a fa­vour­able po­s­i­tion in winter, the blinds are raised and the amount of heat­ing is re­duced ac­cord­ingly. In con­trast, un­ne­ces­sary en­ergy con­sump­tion can be pre­ven­ted in sum­mer by means of blinds auto­mat­ic­ally lower­ing in good time and the air con­di­tion­ing re­du­cing its out­put for this pur­pose.

Energy-efficient single-room control

A sep­ar­ate pro­file that spe­cifies the times at which heat­ing or vent­il­a­tion is to take place can be cre­ated for each room. For ex­ample, the bath­room can al­ways be heated in the morn­ings and even­ings. The tem­per­at­ure can also be reg­u­lated using the Gira push­but­ton sensor 3 Plus if you de­cide you would like a dif­fer­ent set­ting. The res­ult is tem­per­at­ure con­trol that is eco­nom­ical and ad­apts pre­cisely to the oc­cu­pants’ needs, mean­ing that heat­ing and vent­il­a­tion never run un­ne­ces­sar­ily.

Needs-based temperature control

With tem­per­at­ure sensors and servo mo­tors on the heat­ing valves, the sys­tem de­tects if the avail­able flow tem­per­at­ure is too high or too low. De­pend­ing on the av­er­age out­door tem­per­at­ure, this can then be ad­ap­ted ac­cord­ingly. The Gira HomeServer there­fore en­sures op­timum en­ergy util­isa­tion through­out the en­tire build­ing all year long, all the while pre­vent­ing un­ne­ces­sary costs.

Automatic lighting control

Pres­ence and mo­tion de­tect­ors en­sure that lights are auto­mat­ic­ally switched on just when they are needed. If no mo­tion is de­tec­ted for a cer­tain time, the light switches it­self off again. In com­bin­a­tion with bright­ness sensors, the in­tens­ity of the light can also be cus­tom­ised: If the sun is shin­ing into the room more strongly, the light in­tens­ity is auto­mat­ic­ally re­duced.

Cost-cutting central cut-off function

In the en­trance area, all the power-​intensive devices can be switched off at the touch of a but­ton using the cent­ral cut-​off func­tion. This guar­an­tees that elec­tri­city is not con­sumed un­ne­ces­sar­ily. The cent­ral cut-​off func­tion can op­tion­ally be con­nec­ted dir­ectly to the lock­ing sys­tem: if the door is locked from the out­side, the devices are also powered down.

Precise consumption control

The Gira HomeServer con­tinu­ously re­cords and stores op­er­at­ing and con­sump­tion data for elec­tri­city, water, gas or heat­ing oil. Trends can be eas­ily tracked through­out the whole year by means of clear dia­grams, which can be viewed on a PC, tab­let, or even touch pan­els from third-​party man­u­fac­tur­ers. If sig­ni­fic­ant de­vi­ations from av­er­age con­sump­tion occur, this is quickly de­tec­ted with the en­ergy mod­ule. This al­lows en­ergy man­age­ment to be eas­ily op­tim­ised and ad­ap­ted to meet in­di­vidual re­quire­ments.
